Rev. Fisher Robert Mason - Rowan County, NC - Obits Submitted for use in the USGenWeb Project Archives by KLipsc@aol.com Obituaries REV FISHER ROBERT MASON Rev. Fisher Robert Mason was born September 9, 1879 in Mocksville; attended Mocksville local schools, then furthering his education by attending and receiving his degree from Livingston College, then known as The State Normal School. He later received a certificate of Bible Study from the Moody Institute, Chicago, Ilinois. Rev. Mason was married to the former Fannie Bryant of Salisbury who preceeded him in death in the year 1959, after 57 years of happy matrimony. Early in his adult life, Rev Mason heard the call to the ministry and like Samuel said "Here Am I, Send Me." Thus was the beginning of 63 years of active and faithful service. Rev Mason first pastored Mt Zion Baptist Chruch in Salisbury, serving that church for 27 years. He then came to High Point, N.C. where he served as pastor of First Baptist Chruch for 11 years, along with the pastoring of Buncomb and Liberty Grove Churches. Then in the year 1947, Rev Mason accepted the pastorate of Temple Memorial Baptist Church, serving actively unitl his retirement in 1960. In recognition and appreciation for services rendered, the membership of Temple saw fit to honor him as Pastor Emeritus. In the course of his years of service, Rev Mason headed and served in an offical capacity to numerous organizations.
