DIED, lately at Salisbury, GEN. JOHN STEELE, elected to represent that town in 
the Legislature of the state. He was formerly comptroller of the treasury of 
the United States, and was greatly esteemed for the inflexible public and 
private virtues. A true disciple of the Washington school, he has followed to 
the grave his contemporaries, BAYARD, KEY, and THOMAS.
