In the Name of God Amen this twentieth Day of December in the Year of Our Lord
1770 I William Bartholomew in the County or Rowan in Province of North
Carolina being tender and wake in Body but of perfect Mind & Memory Thanks be
given unto God. Therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body & knowing
that it is appointed for all men once to die Do make & ordain this my Last Will
& Testament. That is to say principally & first of all I give &
recumed(sp?) my Soul unto the hand of Almighty God that gave it, and my body I
recommend to the Earth to be buryed in a decent & orderly manner as my
Executors shall think proper nothing doubtting at the general Resurrection I
shall rise the same again by the might power of God. And as touching such
worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this Life I give and
dispose of them in the following manner & Form – I have and bequeath unto
William Watts James Watts eldest son of the County & province aforesaid all the
Estate wherewith I am endowed with & do appoint him to be my lawful Air (sic)
and no other. And I (stain - unreadable) and appoint & ordain James Watts,
William Betty to be my soul & lawful Executors of this my Last Will & Testament
I do hereby utterly disallow revoke disannull all and every other former Wills
and Testaments made by me any ways before named willed or bequeathed ratifying
and confirming this & no other to my last will & Testament. In witness whereof I
have hereunto set my Hand & Seal the Day & Year above written. Signed sealed &
delivered in presents of
