In the name of God Amen. I, Mary Cowan of Rowan County State of No. Carolina, 
being of sound mind and memory blessed be to God, do this 27th day of November 
A.D. 1802 make and publish this my last will & in manner following viz

I give & bequeath to my son William Dickey my best hat.

I give to my daughter Elizabeth Dickey two brown stript petticoats.

I give & bequeath to the heirs of my son Joel Dickey namely Esther, Elijah, 
John & Mary Dickey one dollar each.

I give & bequeath to my son John Dickey one brown salamark petticoat.

I give & bequeath to my sons John, William, Thomas & David Cowan one black 
taffety & a striped silk gown to be equally divided among them. It is my will 
& desire that my son David Cowan shall have all my horses, cattle, sheeps, 
hogs & also my beds and furniture likewise my household furniture & everything 
except what are named to my other children. I give to him & also my lawful 
dower of two negroe fellows named Samuel and Peter I say him & his heirs 
forever. 

Lastly I make & Ordain my sons John, William & David Cowan joint executors of 
this my last will test: (she makes her mark) Wit: Wm Barbare, Margaret Lowrance
