I WILLIAM DANCY SNR. of North Carolina, Rowan County being weak of body but of sound mind and memory, knowing it is appointed once for all to die do make this my last will and testament as follows: 1st I give bequeath and divise to my daughter MARY ELLOTT and her bodily heirs the plantation on which her husband JOSEPH ELLOTT now lives on part thereof in Iredell County. 2nd I give bequeath and divise to my daughter RACHEL MCBRID and the heirs of her body begoten a piece of land lying in Rowan County begining at a Hickery it being a part of FREDRIC MENISES bar post then west or thereabout (----ing) some distance inside of the fence as said Hickery now stands untill you strike my line betwen me and my son WILLIAM DANCY then to a black oak cornor near said WILLIAM DANCY's fence then along my line untill you come within four rod of the bottom ground then the continue thereof to be assertained, then a line to be run up and down the bottom and RACHEL MCBRIDE and bodyly heirs to have that part joining JAMES OWENS, FREDERIC MEANIS and the other part as herafter directed. 3rd I allow my sons, JOHN & WILLIAM DANCY fifty cents each and JOHN BRODWAY my son-in-law also fifty cents----------- 4th I give bequeath and disvise to my daughter HANNAH TURNER (widow) the remainder of my land begining at said Hickory, FREDERIC MEANISIS bar post thence westerly untill it striks WILLIAM DANCY line then southerly along my line to KERRS line then along my line to FREDERIC MENISES then and along my line to begining said Hickory. Also to have the bottom gound ajoing WILLIAM DANCY before spoken of. Also to have her share of too cows, all my kitchen and household furniture, cotton and all grain of every kind, my big hoe my little axe, all my hogs, my new shovel plow----- 5th All my property I die in posesion of (not willed) I allow to be sold by my executor and after my debts is paid thereout of the ballance to be divided equally amongst my children-- I appoint ROBERT GILLESPIE my executor.
