I James Dickey of Rowan County and State of North Carolina being sick and weak in body, but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God and calling to mind and memory the mortality of body and that it is appointed for all men once to die Do make this my last will and testament. And principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul unto God that give it hopeing through the merits Death and intercession of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to have a full and free pardon of all my sins and to inherit everlasting life and my body I commit to the earth to be buried in a decent christian burial at the discretion of my Exrs hereafter named nothing doubting but to receive the same again at the general resurrection by the mighty power of God. and as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give, bequeath, and demise, and dispose of in the following manner and form. And first it is my will and pleasure that all those Just Debts as I owe to any person or persons whomsoever he will and truly paid and satisfied in some convenient time after my decease by my Exrs. Item, I give and bequeath to my son John Dickey the sum of five pounds current money of this state. Item, I give and bequeath to my son Samuel Dickey the sum of ten pounds of like money. Item, I give and bequeath to my son David Dickey, the sum of twenty pounds like money. Item, I give and bequeath to my daughter Margaret Dickey one bay mare five year old, two head of hemmers, two feather Beds and furniture. Item, I give, bequeath and Demise to my son James Dickey six hundred acres of Land whereon I now live with all the improvements thereon providing that he pay the several Legatees their respective legacies and sufficiently provides for his mother and me during our natural life time also one large plow and one small Ditto. Item, I give and bequeath to my son William Dickey, the sum of fifty pounds, a Bay mare and colt, one Heifer, one plow, one Mattock, one axe, one hoe, one pair of chains. Item, I give and bequeath to my son Hayes Dickey one feather Bed and furniture, one gun, and one mattock and five pounds. Item, I give and bequeath to Cornelius Withiroe one bay colt. Item, I give and bequeath to my dearly beloved wife Mary Dickey one bay mare, two good cows with all my household furniture and the residue of my Estate. Lastly, I name ordain constitute and appoint my son James Dickey to execute this my last will and testament hereby revoking and disannuling all former wills and testaments, bequeathments, demises, legacies and exrs by me in any in any manner of ways before this time, named, willed, bequeathed, demised or appointed ratifying this an no other to be my last will and testament. In witness wereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the year and day above written.
