Salisbury NC, Privately Printed, 1980, E:255 Will of Thomas Dickey Know all men by these that I Thomas Dickey of Rowan County in North Carolina, being afflicted in body but perfectly sound in mind and memory, knowing that it is appointed for we men once to die; It is therefore my wish and direction, that the property where with God has blessed me be disposeth of in the following way and manner (viz) It give and bequeath to my beloved wife Ellenore Dickey my mansion house and all household furniture thereto belonging. Also all stocks of mine(?) Horses, Cows, Sheep and Hoggs, to be hers and at her own disposal forever further all my Negro Servants now about me in like manner to be disposed of by her as her own property; all farming too belonging to the plantation. I give and bequeath to my daughter Martha Anderson one Negro girl named Jude now in her possession. I give and bequeath to my daughter Jane Rosbrough one Negro girl named Sal(?) now in her possession. I give and bequeath to my son John Dickey the plantation on which I now live consisting of two deeds, one from Joseph Luckey the other from Richard Luckey each made to me by them, also the two Mills grist and saw mill with all their appurtenances, to be his and his only forever - provided at the same time that he said John Dickey does furnish or allow his Mother and your Sisters a sufficient maintenance from the premises before mentioned as long as may be really necessary. I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Rosbrough one Negro girl named Hannah now in her possession. I give & bequeath to my son William Dickey one tract of land containing 200 & 30 acres adjoining to Richard Luckeys land on the west, and others, and that my executors hereafter to be mentioned purchase an addition to said Land of Sixty acres if it can be had, if not that they furnish him with the price of said fifty acres at three dollars per acre. Also they see my lands & property or monies not before mentioned or appropriated, go into the hands of my executors, be sold and divided so as to make my younger daughters Darcus, Alse, Esther, Mary, Nelly equal in property to my daughters now married if the property thus disposed and divided should at last fail to make the younger equal to the married ones, that those now married pay back an equal portion to bring them equal, or is after said division there should remain some property, that such remainder be equally divided between my two sons John and William. Lastly, I do hereby constitute and ordain my wife Ellenner and my son John Dickey as the sole Executors of this my last will and testament, revoaking and disannulling all and every other will before made by me ordaining this only as my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 23rd of June 1806.
