Transcribed as it is written line by line with approximately the same amount of words on each line. The right half of the first line and the last 2 signatures are completely unreadable. The right 25% of the first 2 lines and from about the middle on down are very hard to see. Know all men by these ____(unreadable smear)____ Samuel Stephenson, Jo’n Graham, Richard Graham, William Graham, Hugh Graham, Samuel Graham, Mary Graham, and Benjamin Graham All of the County of Rowan & province of North Carolina do own & Acknowledge ourselves jointly indeted unto Richard Graham and James Brandon, both of the county of & province aforesaid in the Just and full sum one thousand pounds sterling money to be Paid to John J & Richard Graham and James Brandon or to either of them their Heirs, Exec’t firmly by these presents sealed with our seals & dated this Thirty First Day of Decm’r in the Year of our Lord one Thousand Seven Hundred & Seventy Two. The condition of the above Obligation is such that whereas John Graham Of Rowan County in the Province of North Carolina is now deceased & died intested, leaving no written will but hath made a Non cupative Will verbely delivered to Richard Graham, Mary Arm strong and James Brandon: Now the above Brandon, James Graham George Smith, Samuel Stinson, John Graham, Rich’d Graham, William Graham, Hugh Graham, Samuel Graham, Mary Graham, Ben- jamin Graham being all Lawful Heirs & jointly claiming no rightful Legatees to a Dividement of the aforesaid John Graham Deceased Estate: now if they jointly & severally their Heirs & of their Heirs Exec’t & Administrators, do stand to obey, abide by and hold themselves content & fully satisfied by the aforesaid Noncuplative & verbal Will of the aforesaid John Graham deceased made in the presence of the said Richard Graham Mary Armftrong & James Brandon orally then changed Into writing, under their Hands & Seals: Then the above obliga- tion to be void, else to remain in full Force & Effect Sealed & _______ Sam’l Graham @ James Graham @ In presence Mary Graham @ George Smith @ Saml Young Benj’m Graham @ Samuel Stephenson @ James Graham Jun’r Copy ____ John Graham @ Richard Graham @ _________@ _________@ Additional Comments: This is will of John Graham, son of James Graham Sr who with James Graham Jr and Richard Graham were the first 4 Graham's in Rowan Co NC arriving about 1749 (See Carolina Cradle, Robert W Ramsey p38-39).
