The Will of Jeremiah Jacob: In the name of God Amen, I Jeremiah Jacob of Rowan County and State of North Carolina being weak in body, but of perfect mind and memory do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament inform and manner following - first I will that all my just debts be paid by me Executors, secondly I will and bequeath unto my Son Edward Gaither Jacob, One hundred and fifty Acres of land where I now dwell to have after my decease, by his paying Three Hundred Pounds Currency dollars at eight Shillings to him his Heirs and Assigns for ever. I also give and bequeath unto my Daughter Ruth Jacob over and above her equal part of my Personal Estate the feather Bed and furniture that lay on her Heirs and Assigns for ever, and as for my Personal Estate which it has Pleased God to bless with to be equally divided among my children namely Sarah Gaither, Ann Gaither, Rachel Gaither, Jeremiah Jacob, Joseph Jacob, Zachariah Jacob, Edward Gaither Jacob, Ruth Jacob also my lease that I hold in Maryland to be sold by the Executor and equally to be divided among all my Children above named, and do constitute & appoint my Son Zachariah Jacob my whole & sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament and do revoke disannul and make void all other Wills by me heretofore made in witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 10th day of March Anno Domini 1781.
