Registered in Book E A.L.O [Main Document] In The name of God Amen I James Macay of the County of Rowan and the State of North Carolina being weak in body yet of sound mind and memory thanks be to God for it and calling to mind that it is appointed fro [sic] all men to die and considering the mortality of my body do make Constitute and ordain this to be my last will and Testament That is to say Principally and first of all I give and recommend my soulinto the hands of that God who gave it and for my body I recommend it to be buried in a Christian like manner at the discretion of my Executors hereafter to be named nothing doubting but at the General Ressurection I shall receive it again by the power of Almighty God and as touching such worldy property as it hath pleased God to bless me with in theis life I give will and dispose of it in the following manner that is to say. 1. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Esther Macay my bed and furniture together with her right of Dower in my lands as reserved in a Deed of Conveyance which I made to my son Wilson Macay as will appear of record. 2. I give and Bequeath to my son Spruce Macay five shillings sterling if Legally demanded and my Clock he paying to my son James forty dollars twelve months after my decease. 3rd I give and Bequeath to my Daughter Elizabeth wife of Radford Ellis one Nigre wench names Jane one feather bed and furniture two Cows and one woman’s saddle now in the possession of her husband Radford Ellis --- 4th I give and bequeath to my Son John one nigroe slave name Peter and a mare and saddle which he has sold. 6th [sic] I give and Bequeath to my Daughter Sarah wife of Robert McKie one nigroe name Sylvia one feather bed and furniture one Cow and Calf five pounds in money 7th I Give and Bequeath to my Daughter Anne wife of Henry Lofton one nigroe Girl named Amy and one feather bed and furniture and one sorrel horse now in the possession of her husband and five pounds in money. 8th I Give and Bequeath to my son Wilson two nigroes one named Harvey and the Other Lucy and one feather Bed and furniture all of which are in his possession he performing the Covenant for which I have his Obligation respecting his Brother Daniel and Sister Hannah and James his brother. 9th I Give and Bequeath to my Son Daniel one nigroe girl named Patty which said Girl is to remain in the possession of my Daughter Anne from the time of my decease till my Son Daniel is of age. Lastly I ordain Constitute and appoint my son James Macay the sole Executor of this my last will and Testament hereby directing him to make sale of the whole of my moveable property which is not bequeathed above in to enable him to discharge my Just debts and likewise to plead the Statute of limitation against all accounts which may be brought against my estate where the statute will lie. I do hereby appoint my son Spruce guardian for Son Daniel and Daughter Hannah. /s/ Jas.
