C. Wills Page 52 Book E 1803 In the name of God Amen the 14th day of April 1803 I Nancy Martin of County Rowan & late of N. Carolina being very sick & weak in body but of perfect mind & memory thanks be to God. Therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body & knowing that it is appointed for all once to die. Do make and ordain this my last Will & Testament That is to say principally & first of all I give and recomend my soul unto the Hand of Almighty God that gave it to my body. I recommend to the earth to be buried in a decent & fitting burial at the discretion of my executors. Nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the Almighty Power of God & as touching such worldly estate wherewith it had pleased God to bless me in this life. I give and devise & dispose of the same in the following manner & form. First I give & bequeath to my well beloved daughter Jane Willson my black gown & a short gown & cotton gown & all my caps & my black silk handkerchief. I bequeath to my well beloved son Elijah the course hackle also I bequeath to my granddaughter Rachael Graham my blue gown & rust petticoat and my fine hackle a pewter dish & three pewter plates and dresser, furniture & the remainder to the pewter to Elijah and my horse and one cow hide & one to my son Joseph & my cow & loom to Elijah & he to pay the right of the children & equal share & one single blanket & one to Rachael & one flat iron to Joseph & my wheel to Rachael & the reel for the use of the house & my oven to Elijah & my sheet & cow bell my feather bed & counter pane & bolster to Nancy Martin & the pot racks to Elijah & one churn and I do likewise constitute make & ordain my well beloved son John Martin my sole executor of this my last Will & Testament & do hereby utterly disavow revoke & disannul all & every other former Testaments, Wills, Legalities, Bequeaths & Executors by me in any way before named, willed, bequeathed affirming & confirming this and no other to be my last Will & Testament in witness where of I have here unto set my hand & seal the day & year written. Signed, Sealed, & Published Pronounced & Declared by the said Nancy Martin as her last Will & Testament: In presence of us subscribed. Book 18 pg 900 North Carolina Rowan County whereas James Marl'in Esquire Deceased, without leaving a will that is yet found and being well assured that it was his intentions & Desire that his two sons Joseph Marl'in and Elijah Marl'in should have the whole of his land that he was possessed of at the time of his death we the under subscribers being agreeable to the laws of this State intitled to a share of said Land to take this method to achive the said Joseph Marl'in and his Brother Elijah that we do Relinquish all our Right & Claim to the said Land or any part of the said land as is above mentioned & meant as witness we hereunto set our Hands & Seals this Day of February 1802 Test.
