I JAMES McGUIRE Sen. Of the County of Rowan and State of North Carolina being at present infirm of body, but of sound mind, memory and judgement, do hereby publish and declare this to be my last will and testament and do will and bequeth, and demise as follows - To my beloved wife ELENOR McGUIRE the whole of the chatel property now in my possession, and not otherwise dispose of to do with (after my decease) as she shall judge best for the benefit of our family - And further it is my will that the deeds given to my sons DAVID, SAMUEL, AND JAMES, and my daughter ELENOR together with my article of agreement with my son THOMAS, and my deed of gifts made and hereby confirmed to my daughters POLLEY, and SARAH and herein and hereby made good, binding, and valid - In confirmation whereof, I have hereunto set my hand, and affected my seal this 1st day of November in the year of our Lord God One Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty Five JAMES McGUIRE (seal) Signed, sealed and delivered in the presence of SAMUEL McFEE JOHN MAXWELL ------------------------------------ Rowan County February Sessions 1826 I hereby certify that the withing will was duly proven in open court by the oath of John Maxwell recorded and registered in Book H, Page 338 *************************************************************************** Additional Comments: James McGuire, Sr. was born about 1760 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and died January 28, 1826 in Rowan County, North Carolina. He married Eleanor Luckey, daughter of Samuel Luckey, Sr. and Mary. James and Eleanor had seven children, David, Samuel, Thomas, Eleanor, Sarah, Polly, and James, Jr. James McGuire, Jr.’s biography, dated 1872, placed in the Atlas of Jersey County, Illinois states his parents, James McGuire, Sr. and Eleanor Luckey were both natives of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and originally of Irish descent. James, Jr.’s biography also states Eleanor Luckey arrived from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania to North Carolina at the age of 13 with her parents. It was in North Carolina where James McGuire and Eleanor Luckey became acquainted and married. They both died in Rowan North Carolina.
