                                    Will of JAMES HAYNES

I, James HAINES of Rowan, being sickly in body but sound in mind and memory
and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, I thought proper
to make the following distribution of my wordly estate----
Imprimis---I commit my soul to God who gave it, and my body to the Earth,
to be buried in decent manner at the espense of my Executors, and after all
my just debts paid, I divide the remainer in this manner.

Item--I bequeath to my beloved wife, Ann Hains, her bed and furniture and
all the household furniture, Likewise, a horse called Punch and her
saddle--likewise 1/2 her maintenance off the plantation while she lives.
Item--I bequeath to my daughter, Hannah Brown, 10 shilllings
Item--I bequeath to my daughter Mary Andrew, 10 shillings
Item--I bequeath to my daughter Sarah Garrison, 10 shillings
Item--I bequeath to my daughter Jane Scott, 10 shillings
Item--I bequeath to my son John Hains, one track of land touching the place
he now lives on, containing 106A and also 84A off my old ltrack including
his house and cleer land, and agreeable to a line settled between me and
him.
Item--I bequeath unto my son James Hains, 10 shillings
Item--I bequeath unto my son Joseph Hains all the remainder of my estate
not bequeathed above, both real and personal-- that is to say--land,
horses, cows, sheep, hogs, and plantation, tools, debts, etc., and 1/2 of
the waggon, the other half of the waggon I leave to John Haines, and I
appoint my sons Joseph and James, executors of this last will and
testament--and I do hereby disannul and renounce all former wills and
testaments, and do sign, seal, pronounce, puiblish and declare this to be
my last will and testament, this fourth day of May, one thousand Seven
Hundred and Eighty-eight. 1788
