Submitted by: Thelma Noland RockinN@aol.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------- I would like to re-submit this will for Stephen Noland. I submitted this will some months ago but recently have been sent a copy of the original will. The lady who sent me the copy has an original copy with the raised seal from Rowan Co, North Carolina. This new copy has some corrections and additions, and could be of some value to the descendants of Stephen Noland. Thank you Thelma Noland RockinN@aol.com --------------------------------- ROWAN CO. First of all I give my soul to God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, and my body to be decently buried up in the earth in a Christian like manner at the discretion of my Executors, hoping to have them again united together at the great and general resurection by the mighty power of God, and as touching my wordly goods as it pleases Almighty God to bless me with in this life, I give, devise, and dispose of in the manner, that is to say, first, I give unto my beloved wife Mary Noland 74 acres of land to be laid off where I now live, including the dwelling and plantation as far as the main branch between this and the old place to her and her heirs and assigned forever. And I also give to her my sorrel mare, Jenos, and black mare and eight head of sheep and all my hogs and all my crop and beds and furniture to her and her heirs forever. 2ndly, I give and bequeath to my son Stephen Noland my sorrel colt and my youngest brindle heifer, to him and his heirs forever. 3rdly, I give and bequeath to my son Ledstone Noland my saddle and the black colt, he paying to my son James Noland one half of the value of said colt, which colt to be valued by two men at three years old. 4th, I give and bequeath to my granddaughter Ann Holderfield one pied cow to be delivered to my daughter Henne Holderfield for the use of the child immediately after my decease. 5th, I give and bequeath to my wife Mary Noland all the rest of my stocks of cattle to her use, she giving my son Ledstone Noland, James, Alidia, Mary and Eleanor Noland, one heifer as they my children grow up, and also I give my wife as aforesaid all the rest of my household and furniture of every kind, plantation tools not herein disposed of. And all the rest of my land not herein devised, I give and bequeath to my three sons, Stephen, Ledstone, and James Noland to be equally divided between them in quality so as each share be equal in value, which direction and valuation shall be ascertained by three men chosen by my Executors that I give to them and their heirs forever. I give and bequeath to my daughter, Ann Turley my dresser, and lastly my big bay mare to be sold at value within nine months, with credit given in order to discharge my just debts. And I do hereby constitute and appoint my trusty friend Bazil Gaither my whole and sole executor to this my last will and testament, revoking and making void all other wills by me made and ratifying this and no other, to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof, I have set my hand and seal this day and year first above written.
