Preston Last Will and Testament of Peter Casper In the name of God Amen, I Peter Casper of the County of Rowan and State of North Carolina Being weak and frail in body but of Perfect Mind and Memory, Thanks be to God for it and all Other of his Mercies, And Calling to Mind the Mortality of my Body and that its Appointed for all Man Once to Die, do make and Ordain this my Last Will and Testament (Viz) Principally and first of all I Give and Recommend my Soul Into the Hands of Almighty God Who gave it, and my Body to the Earth to be Buried in Decent Christian Burial at the Discretion of my Executors, Nothing Doubting but I Shall Receive the Same Again at the General Resurrection Thro the Mighty Power of God, and as touching those Worldly Goods wherewith it hath pleased God to help me in this Life I Live Divine and dispose of them In Manner and form as followith. I Give and Bequeath Unto my Beloved Wife ( Ann Mary ) Privilege of Sufficient Room for her and her Necessary attendants In My Dwelling House & Privilege of the Barn and Milk House and Yearly at Each Year She Shall have Thirty Bushels of Wheat and Forty Bushels of Indian Corn Three Hundred pound weight of Pork &five Gallons Siguar and three Cows and a Heifer Kept Summer and Winter with as Many of their Offspring as She Shall Think proper to Raise and Also One Horse Kept Summer and Winter, and Also She is to have full Privilege of the Gardens and also to have one acre of flax Sown in Good Ground, All Which Services Shall be done for her by my two sons Henry and Adam at their Own Cost and Charges and Charges Yearly and Each Year During the Time of her Natural Life – Also I Give and Bequeath Unto my Said Wife ( Ann Mary ) All and Singular my Goods and Chattels, Rights and Credits - Whatsoever (Accept Such as Shall be hereafter Mentioned in This my Will as Legacies to my Children) Also I Give and Bequeath Unto the Heirs of my Son Conrad The Sum of Ten Pounds to be Equally Divided Among Those of his Children that Shall live to Arrive at the Year of Maturity at which time it Shall become due Unto them and is to be paid in Goods at Cash price, Also I Give and Bequeath Unto my Son John My Plantation of Land that he Now Lives on Containing One Hundred Acres of Land and One Waggon which is Now in his possession and Two Pounds in Money & one third part of all my Body Clothes and I do Hereby Confirm Unto him all Gifts that I have Given Unto him heretofore. Also, I Give and Bequeath Unto My Son Henry One Equal half of my Plantation of Land I now live on and one half of the property of my Waggon I Now have in Possession , and One Half the Mall Rings & Wedges, and One Shot Gunn One Pair of Swingtrees & Gears for two Horse and One Third Part of My Body Clothes and I do Hereby Confirm Unto Him all Former Gifts - Also I Give Unto my Daughter Eve One Black Mare, One Side Saddle, one bridal, One Brass Kettle, her Bed &furniture, my Bed-Chest, One Iron Pott One Spinning Wheel, and one Loom, & I do hereby Confirm Unto her all former gifts - Also I Give and Bequeath Unto My Son Adam One Equal half of my Plantation that I now Live on, and One half of my Shot Mentioned Waggon, One Stallion Horse, and One Brown Horse with a Star, two Axes and One Mattock, One Rifle Gunn &One Cow, One Half of the Mall Rings &Wedges One Plough and all Necessary tacklings Therunto, Gears for two Horses, One Iron Pott, and one Third Part of My Body Clothes, and I do hereby Confirm Unto him all Former Gifts - and I do hereby Constitute and Appoint My Son John Casper and Robert Linns Executors of this my Last Will and Testament - I do hereby Disavowal and make Void all other Wills Ratifying and Pronouncing this and No Other to be my Last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I we hereunto Set my Hand and Affix my Seal This Twenty Third day of February Anno Domino 1786.
