The 20th day of Sep, 1803, I, Peter Lewis of the County of Rowan in the State of NC. Yeoman being very sick & weak in body but of perfect mind & memory, calling to mind the mortality of my body & knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make & ordain this my last will & test.: That is to say principally & first I recommend my soul into the hand of God & my body to the earth to be buried in a decent christian burial at the discretion of my executors. Nothing doubting but the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God. And as touching such worldly state wherewith it had pleased God to bless me in this life I give demise & dispose of the same in the following manner & form. First I order my just debts to be paid. Then I give & bequeath to my daughter Jane one rone mare & my bed & furniture, my chest I give to my daughter Wallis. I give unto Ellinor Wally one young heiffer, & the young stud to James, one note of twenty dollars I give to Charles Smith & one note of nine dollars I give to William Bird & to my son Simon I give one hundred & nine dollars, my horse I give to Wm Bird, I order that my land shall be sold & a equal division to be made amongst my children, also I constitute & ordain my sone Peter Lewis to be my sole executor of this my last will & test. And I do hereby utterly disallow, revoke & dis-? all & every other former test. or will & executors by me in any way before named willed or bequeathed, ratifying & confirming this & no other to be my last will & test. Elijah Martin James and Ellianor Wally's names did not indicate what relationship, but may be grandchildren. **Daughter, Nancy, and Daniel Bentley had already moved to E. KY - probably why she was not listed.
