LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF JACOB V POOL Prov. Aug 1795 Registered in Book F:37 In the Name of God Amen, I Jacob Van Poole of Rowan County in the State of North Carolina, a Planter, being very weak and sick in body but of Perfict Sound mind and memory, thanks be to God for the Same and calling into minde the mortallaty of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do this 13th day of April in the year of our Lord one Thousand Seven hundred and Ninety Five make and ordain this my last will and Testament, I Give and Recommend my Soul into the hands of the almighty God, that Gave it, my body I recommend to the Earth(?) to be buried in a Decent manner, nothing doubting(?) but I shall receave the Same again by the mighty power of God and as touching(?) all worldly(?) Estate where with it has pleased God to bless me with in this life, I Give, Devise and Dispose of the Same in the Following manner and form. I desire my well beloved wife ELIZABETH Shall keep her position (possession?) on the Plantation I now live on during the whole time She has my Name and do Give and bequeath unto her her bed and furniture those to belong and she keep all other household articles except such as do not(crossed out?) in particular mention to her use and for the use of my son JACOB for Ever. Secondly, I Give and bequeath unto my son JACOB the Plantation I now live on provided he my son Jacob will maintain his mother during her widow hood in Clothing and every other thing she will stand in need of during the time of her being a widow, and will pay until Each of his Sisters after he comes of age the Sum of Five pounds , as(or) before he comes of age, if he conveniently can though he shall not be compelled to pay the said Sum until he is twenty-one years of age, and to my Son DAVID he shall pay the sum of ten pounds in money, and then upon these condition he the Said son JACOB, shall inherit my Said Plantation and enjoy it for ever and all that I now leave in the possession (posession) of his mother and desire (?), my wife and my son JACOB shall pay all Just Debts that I owe. Thirdly, I Give and bequeath unto my Son JOHN POOLE ten acres of land joining his own and THOMAS BROWN's . Fourthly, I Give and bequeath unto my daughter HEFSEY/HESSEY her bed and all thereto belonging and _______ and her chest and Sadle (Table?) and one cow and one heffer besides the five pounds which I have above mentioned to be paid by my Son JACOB=and one yew(?). Fifthly, I Give and bequeath unto my daughter LEADIA her bed and furniture thereto belonging and ___ other two cows and calfs, one heffer, and a ______ besides the five pounds my son JACOB shall pay unto her--one yew(?) . And unto my Son HENRY I have Given his full Shear of All. And I do hereby Constitude(?) and appoint my wife and my son JACOB & my son DAVID Executors of this my last will and Testament and do in the name of God devise that it Shall be faithfully Fulfilled in witness whereto. I the Said Jacob Van poole have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal the day and year above written Signed, Sealed, Published and Declared by the Testator as his last will and testament in the presence of us who whare present at the signing and sealing of these presents.
