   Richard Walton left this will in Rowan County:
   
   G:312. RICHARD (X) WALTON. 23 Nov. 1813, prb. Feb. 1814. Old & weak.
   Son Peter to have my old tract of 116 A whereon I now live adj Jacob
   Smith, John Adams, and George Brunner, incl my spring. Sons John and
   Peter to have 116 A adj Benjamin Walton, valued at $2.00 an acre and
   they are to pay my dau. Susanna and the heirs of my two sons David and
   Benjamin so that they get the equivalent of the 116 acres. My daughter
   Susanna Kern is also to have the 150 acres where she now lived and
   $50.00 in cash. My 4 grandchildren who are the children of Daniel
   Walton [mother Margaret Smith Yost] are to have 119 A; they are Isaac,
   Catherine, Joseph, and Margaret Walton, and their mother is Margaret
   Walton. Exr: son John Walton. Wit: Jacob Smith, John H. Swink.
   
   [Jo White Linn in her "Rowan County Registrar" included this note:
   Richard Walton is said to have come from England. He was in Salisbury,
   NC, when General George Washington passed through and while shaking
   his hand said, "I have shaken hands with one King (George III) and now
   I am shaking hands with another."]
   
   Rowan County marriage bonds show Susannah Walton to Daniel Karn 17
   Jan. 1803 with David Woodson bondsman, Daniel Walton to Margaret Yost
   8 May 1792 with George Smith bondsman. Richard Walton was the brother
   of Conrod Walton of the will recorded in G:205.
