Cole Cemetery - Rutherford County, NC - Cemteries Submitted to the USGenWeb Project by Bill Floyd (wdfloyd@rfci.net) COLE CEMETERY Rutherford County, NC By W. D. Floyd This cemetery can be reached by going south on Highway US 221 out of Rutherfordton, NC until you get to Danieltown VFD, this will be about half mile south of where US 221 Truck and US 221 come together. At the Danieltown VFD turn to the west and go to the stopsign. At stop sign turn south and go until just before the pavement ends and the road turns to dirt and turn west on a dirt road called Dark Corner Road. Travel Dark Corner Rd. for 1.15 miles and park at the old house place on the right. Look ahead and across the road and find the road going out through the trees with a cable across it. Walk down this old road until it splits, take the left fork and follow down the hill and up the steep hill and on over the top of the steep hill and find another cable across the road. Just keep going and following the oldest looking road and when it goes around the far end of the ridge you will find the cemetery on top of the little ridge. This is at least 1.25 miles off the road so be prepared for a long walk. This was the longest walk for the least amount of info that I have recorded. For the people that are descendents of these Coles it is really worth the walk. If the road is dry and you can get the cables opened up you can drive a pickup all the way to the cemetery. I was there April 2, 1998. Cole, S. January 31, 1886 Cole, J. October 29, 1871 I. C. April 3, 1846 These readings were cut in on field stones and there were 10- 25 other graves with fieldstones or unmarked. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ These pages and information thereon are not to be reproduced in any form for profit or distribution without the permission of W.
