It is about 2 1/2 miles northwest of Bostic off the east side of county road # 1561 and is situated about 200 yards north of Roberson Creek Church in the edge of the woods. Only two graves are marked but it appears that there are other graves. Weeks, Elizabeth, Died 8 July 1880 aged 89 yrs. Weeks, Millia(?), Died 20 June 1847 In the 28th or 88th (?) year of her life. THOMPSON GRAVES About 4 1/2 miles north of Ellenboro on the New House road, and just after crossing Sandy Run Creek, there is an old family cemetery that we have not found the name of. The cemetery is partially destroyed now, but appearance indicate that there might have been several graves. There are several field stones scattered around. Only two rocks could be found with any inscriptions. One of them had only the intials, "P.W." Thompson, Elizabeth, Died 3 Jan 1851 aged 60 yrs. w/o William Thompson JAMES WALKER CEMETERY About 1 1/2 miles east of Hopewell Church and about 150 ft. off the south side of a county road # 1760 in an island of trees on top of a hill is an old cemetery known as the James Walker cemetery, with only one marked grave. Green, David, 1845 1879 BOB PRICE CEMETERY The Old Bob Price cemetery is located near Hollis and many of the graves are marked only with field stones. GRIFFIN CEMETERY The Griffin cemetery is located about 3/4 miles east of the Sunset Memorial Cemetery on the north side of the county road # 2179, southeast of Spindale. CSA Griffin, Minerva E., 25 June 1846 11 May 1887 GOODE FAMILY CEMETERY This cemetery is located in the Goodes Creek Church community, about 3 miles west of Cliffside and on a hilltop just west of Goode's Creek on the old Island Ford Road. This is the old homeplace of John Goode. Only evidence of two graves remain (1971). Goode, Lucy, 12 July 1797 2 June 1854 w/o John Goode The adjoining grave has only the bottom half of the stone left, but the foot stone has the initials J.G. indicating that it is the grave of John Goode. GOODE FAMILY CEMETERY This Goode Family cemetery is located on the Gantt's Grove Road about one mile east of Six Points, in the Gantt's Grove Church Community about 3/4 mile west of the church. It is situated on the northwest side of Highway # 226 about 2/10 mile off the highway, and the plot contains some 12 to 15 graves with only 2 of them marked. Hogue, Rebecca, Died 29 Aug 1830 in her 72nd year. Hogue, Stephen, died 1802 in his 45th year. HOPEWELL CEMETERY (OLD) This cemetery is located in the Hopewell-Hollis area of Rutherford county. It is located about 1.4 miles east of the present Hopewell Methodist Church, north of Ellenboro. It is situated in an island of pine trees in and open field about 500 feet off the north side of the Hopewell Road (County road # 1760). The cemetery covers about 2 acres and contains several hundred old graves, but unfortunately only about four of them have inscribed markers, as shown herewith. Byers ELIGAH WALKER CEMETERY This cemetery is located about 2 1/2 miles south of Ellenboro on the east side of the Ellenboro-Caroleen Road (County road # 1920). It is situated about .4 miles south of the bridge over bypass 74 and about 1/4 mile off the road behind the home of Rev. W.F. McGinnis. Floyd To get to this cemetery from US74 highway, (the four lane road) at the Ellenboro-Henrietta exit go north toward Ellenboro, NC until you come to the first crossroads which will be about a mile or less. At this cross road turn to the right and go two tenths of a mile and park the car. Walk to the right one hundred yards along what use to be a railroad right-of-way and turn right across what use to be the railroad and you should be looking at the cemetery. The cemetery consists of two graves with both names on a single broken marker. The railroad bridge over the road was still in place when I did the audit. The date was June 19,1997.
