Old Thermal City Church Cemetery, Rutherford County, NC Submitted to the USGenWeb Archives by W. D. Floyd OLD THERMAL CITY CHURCH CEMETERY By W. D. Floyd This cemetery is basically destroyed by timber cutting. There is only one marker still there that is readable and part of another. There is nothing else to be found. I don’t know how many were originally there but from what I have been told there were several. The cemetery is located just off of US 221N in the extreme northern part of the county. It is, I think, the last road to the east in Rutherford County before entering McDowell. Turn east on Box Creek Road and go across the bridge and park just where the railroad track comes out of the woods. This is about a thousand feet or less. Walk north across the tracks and up the end of the ridge just after crossing the tracks, there is an old road. Just as you reach the top of the ridge go to the east just a little and the one marker will be there in the woods.
