RUTHERFORD COUNTY, NC - MILITARY - Abstract, David Dickey Revolutionary War Pension Application ----¤¤¤¤---- Revolutionary Pension/Land Warrantee File David Dickey He enlisted in NC 1775 for 2 months service; another 3 months service in GA.(private). He enlisted again in the winter of 1779 for 2 months in Hampton SC; 5/1780 for 3 months in Hampton, SC; and again 1781 for 1 month in NC. He lived in Rutherford Co., NC when he enlisted, as well as when he applied for the pension. It states "b. in Augusta Co., Va. 1747". A letter sent to the Bureau of Pensions from a private individual states "by his 2nd marriage with Margaret Stephenson in 1788. The Dickeys went to Va. in 1737 and settled opposite the Rock Fish Gap in the south mountains. David was b. in 1747 and moved to S.C. where his son John was b. in 1789 in York district.
