North Carolina Spectator And Western Advertiser September 3, 1830

At a Meeting of the Physicians of Rutherfordton, held on Wednesday evening, 
the 25th ult., the following resolutions were unanimously adopted;--
RESOLVED, that we deeply deplore the death of our brother, Doct. John A.
Walton, and that we will cherish the liveliest recollection of the numerous
virtues by which he was endeared to us as a professional associate and
a personal friend.
RESOLVED, that as a tribute of respect to his memory, we will wear the 
usual badge of mourning for the space of thirty days.
RESOLVED, that the profession throughout the County be requested
to unite with us in this testimonial of respect for the memory of the deceased.
RESOLVED, that a copy of these resolutions be transmitted to the parents
of our deceased brother.
