Marion Gibbs Passed Last Week Well Known Citizen Buried At Cooper's Gap Church Last Wednesday. Died of Blood Poison. Mill Spring, R-2, June 2, - Funeral services were held, at Cooper's Gap Baptist church last Wednesday at 11 am for the late James Marion Gibbs, who died at the Rutherford Hospital at 5 am Tuesday of blood poison. He would have been 79 years old the 19th of next August. He was the son of John Gibbs (deceased). He was a deacon of Cane Creek Baptist church and was held in high esteem by all who knew him. His first marriage was to Miss Hannah Lawter, (deceased) and to this union five children were born and survive, viz: J. Delosia Gibbs, of West Asheville; Watkin, Maude, Harold and Florence Gibbs, all live some place in Indiana. His last marriage was to Miss Lillie Haynes. She survives. Funeral services were in charge of the Revs. Jno. B. Arledge and Samuel J. Huntley. Pall-bearers were J.L. Jackson, W.N. Dimsdale, G.S. Whiteside, Jimmie Ruff, J.W. Biddy and A.F. Ruff. The floral offerings were many and beautiful, which showed the bereaved ones, that our deepest and heartfelt sympathy was extended. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery. Mr. Gibbs was a good citizen and will be missed in the home, church and community. He was one of the pioneers of this section and was always on the side of right.
