RUTHERFORD COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Mack Heaton, 19 Mar 2003 ----¤¤¤¤---- Mack Heaton Mack Heaton, 67, Hillside Drive, Elizabethton, died Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at his residence following an extended illness. A native of Rutherford, N.C., he was the son of the late Dud and Tilda Johnson Heaton. He was of the Christian faith. He was a retired employee of Mapes Piano String Company after 38 years of service as a Quality Control Inspector. He was preceded in death by his wife, Luda Carr Heaton, in 1997; a son, Mikki Daniel Heaton; a sister, Grace Shepard, and a brother, Charles Heaton. Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Rick Breeden, of Gray; Linda and Craig Dancer, of Atlanta; Pam and Mike Coolong, of Charlotte; Tammy Heaton and her fiancee, Steve Freeman, of Elizabethton; two brothers, Ernest Heaton, of Elizabethton, and Jimmy Heaton, Elizabethton; three sisters, Georgie Moore, of Bristol; Mary Tweed, of Dela.; Oma Coleman, Hampton; six grandchildren, Stephanie Reynolds Hale, Unicoi; Julie Reynolds, Sevierville; David Coffman III, Elizabethton; Brittany Coffman, Elizabethton; Chad Dancer, Atlanta; Noah Coolong, of Charlotte; one step grandson, Adam Breeden, of Gray; three great grandchildren, Ely, Christopher, and Zakk Hale, all of Unicoi; a favorite niece, Christine Stiffler, of Italy; a special friend, Sandy Wilson Carr, Elizabethton; several other nieces and nephews also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, is in charge of arrangements. HEATON -- The funeral service for Mack Heaton, 67, Hillside Drive, Elizabethton, who died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2003 at Tetrick Funeral Home Riverside Chapel with Mr. John Smith, minister, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mary Lou O'Quinn, organist. The graveside service and interment will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2003 at Grindstaff Cemetery, Siam Community, Elizabethton. Active pallbearers will be Rick Breeden, David Coffman III, Mike Coolong, Craig Dancer, Bob Schaff and Steve Freeman. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Mapes Piano Strings, Jimmy Heaton, Ernie Heaton, Pete Ledford, Cecil Carr, Dr. Daniel Paul, staff of Adventa Hospice, Clifford Arnold, a special thank you to Carolyn Campbell, Teresa Davis, Dawn Lowe, and Tina Johnson. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home chapel at 1:15 p.m. Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2003 at Tetrick Funeral Home Riverside Chapel, or friends may call at the residence any time.
