Rutherford Man Dies in Raleigh  (died 

James Calvin McBrayer Buried Thursday. Native of This County. Leaves Many 
Relatives And Friends

The many relatives and friends were grieved last Wednesday night to learn of 
the death of James Calvin McBrayer of Raleigh who died at the Rex Hospital 
there Wednesday at noon.

Mr. McBrayer was a native of Rutherfordton and a son of the late N.B. and Mary 
Sparks McBrayer.

Surviving are his wife Nanza Brice of Shelby, a daughter Miss Elizabeth 
McBrayer, a son John Brice McBrayer, all of Raleigh; a brother George McBrayer 
and eight sisters, Mrs. J.A. Owens, Mrs. Effie Henderson, Mrs. Stella Culbreth, 
Mrs. V. A. Ruppe, Mrs. Grant Allen, Mrs. H. M. Champion, all of Rutherford 
County, and Mrs. A. G. Hamrick of Middlesex and Mrs. Alice Grey of Dublin.

Funeral Services were held at the home Thursday at 3 pm and burial was in 
Oakwood cemetery. Dr. P. D. Miller, pastor of First Presbyterian church 
offciated.

Pall-bearers were J. A. Sheets, George Elliot, J. C. Allison, J. J. Fallon, Sam 
Taylor, P. H. King, Dr. W. C. Pressley and Judge Wiley Barnes and members of 
the Moment Bible Class of the First Presbyterian church. A large crowd attened 
the funeral. Those of his relatives attending the funeral were, Mr. and Mrs. A. 
G. Hamrick, Mrs. Alice Grey, Miss Janie Gray, Mrs. Grant Allen, Mrs. H. M. 
Champion, Miss Gertrude Allen, Messrs. Roy and Memory McBrayer.
