RUTHERFORD COUNTY, NC - WILLS - William Earle, 1803 ----¤¤¤¤---- April Court 1803 Last Will & Testament of William Earle Written (?) ­ Probated Apr 1803 (Rutherford County Will Book B Page 151) In the name of God, amen: I William Earle of Rutherford County, North Carolina, being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be to almighty God, and calling to mind the shortness of the life of man, have thought proper to make this my last Will and Testament as follows: That is my sole I give unto the hand of the almighty God and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent manner at the directions of my executors hereafter named. And for the property that it has pleased God to give to me, I dispose of as follows: First: I give and bequeath to my son Nathaniel Earle the house where I now live, beginning at the Sholley Branch and running up my Spring Branch to my back line and lake, out of the old tract until he gets one hundred acres next to the Creek. Secondly: The other two hundred acres to my two other sons Pleasant & Elijah Earles, to be equally dived between them, but Pleasant Earle to have his hundred acres where he now lives. Thirdly: I give and bequeath to my three daughters, Prisey Ledbetter, Lucy Earles, Margret Earles, a Negro wench by the name of Cate, to be equally divided between them (& their creator), and to my two youngest daughters, one feather bed apiece. Fourthly: I give to my three oldest sons, Bennet Earles, William Earles, & Joshua Earles, ten shillings apiece. Fifthly: All my just debts to be paid out of other debts that are due me and out of my moveable estates. Sixthly, I give and bequeath to my wife Elizabeth Earles my house & the balance of the moveable estate her lifetime & then to my three daughters named in the Will. Lastly I appoint my son Nathaniel Earle my executor to this my last Will included before. Signed William (his mark) Earle Witness: Robert Harden, Martin Roberts, and John Roberts April Court 1803 I, Nathaniel Earle, son of Elizabeth Earle, do lease to Elizabeth Earle, the house where she now lives and what part of the land she wants to tend for her own use and half of the peach orchard. And Lucy Earle and Margret Earle, daughters of Elizabeth Earle, doth give or lease to Elizabeth Earle, a Negro wench by the name of Cate to weight on her, her lifetime or during her widow hood. And Pleasant Earle gives to his mother all the land she wants to tend or use for her own use during her widow hood or her lifetime.
