Sampson County, NC - James King Cemetery THE JAMES KING CEMETERY OF THE HALLS TOWNSHIP OF SAMPSON COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA The James King Cemetery, sometimes referred to as the E. S. King Cemetery, is located in the Halls Township of Sampson County, North Carolina. More specifically, it is located off Keener Road about a quarter of a mile north of its intersection with Panhandle Road. This old cemetery is located on property now owned by Doug Wilson of DL & B Enterprises. It is about a quarter of a mile down a pathway (Queens Grant Lane), off the west side of Keener Road. The entrance is now guarded by a gate. Permission will be needed in order to visit this site as it is located in the midst of a field which is often in use for business purposes. James King (1810-1881) was the son of Michael King (1782-1834) and Seney (Oates) King (1787-1844) who were once inhabitants of this part of Sampson County. James King was just one of the 15 children which were part of this great family. Two of the brothers of James King, Alworth King (1803-1865) and Henry King (1812-1879), lived near their brother in the Piney Grove and Halls Townships throughout their lives. Gravesites of the following persons, listed alphabetically, were located at this old King cemetery on 18 February 2011 by Randolph M.
