Sampson County, NC - Raynor Family Cemetery ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Frank and Ellen Raynor are buried in the old Raynor family cemetery in Sampson County. It is located just outside of Newton Grove off Hwy 13 on Friday Rd on a private farm. There are about three mobile homes parked in a line along Friday Rd. Beside one is a dirt road that goes a short distance to the back of the field. At the end of the dirt road is a tall clump of trees that can be seen from the road. I think there were once several graves here, but now only three headstones that remain, all in excellent condition. One for Ellen Raynor, one for Frank Raynor and one for their oldest son, William Edgar. who died unmarried at about 30 years old. There is a base to what once held a headstone and there was a foot marker with "H J" (who I have been told may have been a Jackson, Herman, Hubert, or Hubbard) engraved in it. The area is in disrepair and the graves have been badly encroached upon by the farmers over the decades. __________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
