The first two pages give brief historical background on the founding of the original church by Edward Brown in 1759 and its evolution to the time the record book was started in about 1790. Most of what is transcribed below is the list of members, but the only date in the list occurs midway down one page and many of the annotations (e.g., "deceased" or "excommunicated") appear to have been written in subsequent years as these events occurred. The organization of the record is extremely erratic, jumping from 1801 to 1849 then back to 1790 and so on, as though the notetaker just used the first blank page he happened to come to. Between the illegible handwriting and the creative spelling, deciphering many of the names was sheer guesswork.
