Byrd dec'd, Deed to Wm. Thompson Indenture dated 14 Nov 1802 by and between William Thompson of the county of Sampson and State of North Carolina of the one part, and the Heirs and Legatees of Edward Byrd dec'd of the other part. For three hundred and twelve pounds to them in hand paid by William Thompson for a tract of land bought by the said Edward Byrd dec'd of James Spiller, joining the lands of William Thompson, Henry Jones and said Spiller, also including 68 acres patented by said Spiller containing on all 150 acres. Bizzell and Virginia L. Bizzell 16 Aug 1786 - King's Estate - Edward Byrd, who came into court and claimed to administration with the will of Michael King, late of Bertie county, deceased, on the behalf of Mary, the wife of the said Edward, and the daughter of the said Michael, resigns his right of administration aforesaid unto Thomas Gray which said Gray comes into court and offers for his securities Curtis Ivey and John Fort who are approved of, and entered into bond in the sum of 4000 pounds. Ordered that letters of administration be issued according to the above order and resignation. [Note: Michael King Sr. of Bertie died before January 26, 1785 when his will was proved in Cumberland County Court. He must have still owned property in Sampson at the time of his death.] ========== Mary, wife of Edward Byrd and daughter of Michael King Sr., is not one of the Heirs or Legatees who signed their names to the above land sale to William Thompson and was possibly dead before 1804.
