Bizzell and Virginia L. Bizzell 14 Feb 1797 - Coates Estate: Mary Coates came into court and prayed administration on the estate of her husband which was granted. Ordered she enter into bond for 100 pounds and she offers for secureties Francis Hill and William McLam. Then she came into court and returned an inventory of the estate. Then she came into court and qualified as administrator. 15 Feb 1797 - Coates Estate: Ordered that Mary Coates sell the perishable property of her deceased husband's estate as the law directs and report her procedings to the May Term of this court. 9 May 1797 - Coates Estate: Joab Blackman returned the account of sales of the estate of Josiah Coates, dec'd. ---------- Sampson County, NC Court Minutes, 1800-1810 by Oscar M. Bizzell & Virginia Bizzell 9 May 1809 - Joseph Hearn vs Jordan Coats: Constable Furney Westbrook returned an execution levied on the lands of the defendant there being no other property to be found. Coates for 50 acres was acknowledged. 15 Feb 1813 - Child: Joab Lee came into court as he was charged with begetting a bastard child on the body of Nanny Coats. Bond was set at 200 pounds to keep said bastard child from becoming in any ways chargeable to this county. 22 Feb 1815 - New road - The prayer of Westbrook Lee's petition was granted and ordered that the following persons be appointed a juty to examine a piece of a new road instead of the old road to wit: Wm. Coats & others. 22 Jan 1818 - Jordon Coats was witness to the will of West Maclamore, Sampson County, NC. ---------- Sampson County Court Minutes, 1820-1830 by Oscar M. Bizzell and Virginia L. Bizzell 22 Aug 1820 - Stock marks: Jordan Coats came into court and recorded a crop of the right ear as his usual stock mark. 24 May 1821 - Deeds: Wm. Coats to Pharaoh Lee for 50 acres proved by Reddick Lee. 22 Aug 1822 - Deeds: Willis West Jr. to Burrell Coats for 125 acres proved by Willis West.
