H. Holmes CC Sampson County Court Pursuant to an order of Nov'r Term 1811, directing that a Jury lay off to Sally King widow of Michael King deceased a Dower of land to the said widow report, We the undersigned being summoned & met on the premises on the 17th Dec'r 1811 and after being duly sworn proceeded in manner as follows Viz. - 555 acres adjoining Hoods Branch, mouth of Dividing Branch, main road, Darden Thomas' fence, Cobbs line, & includes the mansion and other houses. Report of Sally King Dower returned to Feby Term 1812 - Map of 555 acre plat to Sally King, valuation $2645, bordered by Hood Swamp - The above plat represents the Dower of Mrs. Sally King relict of Michael King deceased containing 555 acres estimated as one third of 2177 acres in value shewing the courses, distances and corners and allotted to her by Thos. Craddock Esq'r, Jas. Moore, Jetha Oates, Epraim Bradshaw, Jonathan Carr, Ben Phillips, Jesse Bradshaw, William Williams, Joseph Darden, Michael King, John Wiggins & James Cobb jurors summoned in pursuance of an order of Sampson County Court Nov. Term 1811. [Note: Sarah (Sally) King was the daughter of William (d 1792) and Sarah (d 1794) Rhodes of Wayne County] ----------------------------------- File number 435 Whitley Stevens & wife Sally, Jesse Whitley et als, heirs at law of Michael King, dec'd Petition for Partition, 1811 Recorded in Special Proceedings Bk 3, pg 233 Sampson County Register of Deeds, Bk 19, pg 172 To the Worshipful Court of Sampson County. In obedience to an order of Nov'r Term 1811 appointing us the unsigned committee to divide the real estate of Mich'l King deceased among his lawful representatives report having convened on the premises on the 6th Dec'r 1811 proceeded with the survey, 2177 acres the dotted lines exhibit the Widow's Dower. Lot 1 - Longest tract on Hoods Swamp containing 289 acres valued to $1100 was drawn by Whitley Stevens in right of his wife Sally daughter of said deceased. Lot 2 - Adjoining Lot 1 containing 200 acres valued to $950 was drawn by Jesse Whitley in right of his wife Kizzy daughter of said deceased. Lot 3 - Adjoining Lot 2 containing 264 acres valued to $800 was drawn by William Ingram in right of his wife Dicy daughter of said deceased. Lot 4 - Adjoining Lot 3 containing 209 acres including the mansion and other houses valued to $900 was drawn by Susanna King. Lot 5 - Adjoining Lot 4 containing 255 acres valued to $1225 we appropriated to Needham Ingram in right of his wife Nancy daughter of said deceased on his acceptance and assignment of & for the specified term agreeable to valuation as his Lot. Lot 6 - Adjoining Lot 5 containing 192 acres valued to $960 was drawn by Bryan King. Lot 7 - Adjoining Lot 6 containing 200 acres valued to $1000 was drawn by Edmund King. Lot 8 - Adjoining Lot 7 & on the south of Hoods Swamp containing 468 acres valued to $1000 was drawn by William Blackman in right of his wife Polly daughter of said deceased.
