Indenture made July 19, 1847 between David Carroll of the one part and Oates 
S Lewis and Jethro Oates of the other part all of Sampson, $200 for his 
right and title of land in Sampson it being maiden land to my wife Elizabeth 
Carroll to wit:
First tract on the south side of Stag Branch adjoining the lands of Lias? 
Faison, Richard Wolf, Edward Byrd containing 132 acres.
Second tract known as Robert Bell Junr track on the south side of Stag 
Branch containing 59 3/4 acres.
Third track lying in the fork of Stag Branch and Beaver dam adjoining the 
lands of Nathan Williams containing 25 acres.
Fourth tract a dower right belonging to my wife Elizabeth Carroll on the 
William Bell tract on the south side of the Stag Branch adjoining the lands 
of Archabel Bell (no acres given).
Witnesses: Henry D Lewis and thos Ashford
