Hudson and wife to C.C. Hudson and others State of North Carolina Sampson County This deed made this 30th day of March 1900 by C.J. Hudson and wife Mary Hudson of Sampson County and State of North Carolina of the first part to Charlie C. Hudson and Ida Barefoot wife of A.C. Barefoot of Sampson County and State of North Carolina of the second part Witnesseth that said C.J. Hudson and wife in consideration of the agreements herein after made and the sum of Ten and no/100 Dollars to them paid by said C.C. Hudson and Ida Barefoot the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain sell and convey to said C.C. Hudson and Ida Barefoot and their heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land in North Clinton Township Sampson county, State of North Carolina adjoining the lands of R.G. Morrissey and C. Ward and others bounded as follows viz: Beginning at Black gum on a ditch in the Beaver dam Swamp, corner of Ward's land and thence his line S28 W204 poles to a stake thence S665E24 poles to a stake, thence S20E168 poles to a maple on marl branch, thence down the branch as it meanders to the run of Beaver dam thence up the run of Beaver dam 83 poles to the mouth of a ditch thence up the itch 211/2 poles to the beginning containing 149 acres more or less acres except about nine acres adjoining and including the marl hole the purpose of this deed is that Charles C. Hudson 70 acres of the above and cutoff in this southern part and Ida Barefoot to have 70 acres of this said tract cutoff of the northern side and each one to enjoy and use the timber equally. It is further understood that each one of the said grantees is to pay to the parties of 1st part (1/4) one fourth of the entire crops raised annually by them to the said C.J. Hudson and his wife Mary Hudson as long as they both shall live. To have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of real estate and all privileges and appurtenances hereto belonging to the said C.C. Hudson and Ida Barefoot and theirs heirs and assigns to their only use and behoof forever. And the said C.J. Hudson and wife covenant to and with the said C.C. Hudson and Ida Barefoot their heirs and assigns that they are seized of said premises in fee and have a right to convey the same in fee simple that the same are free from all encumbrances and that they will warrant and defend this said title to the same against the clams of all persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof the said C.J. Hudson and wife have hereunto set their hands and seals this day and year above written. C.J. Hudson and Mary Hudson his wife personally appeared before me this day and acknowledged the due execution of the annexed deed of conveyance and the said Mary Hudson being by me privately examined separate and apart from her said husband touching her voluntary execution of the same doth state that she signed the same fully and voluntarily without fear or compulsion of her said husband or any person and that she doth still voluntarily assent thereto this 5th day of May 1900.
