GIDDENS This indenture made on the 16 day of September 1866, between Jas. J. Huggins of the County of Duplin and the State of North Carolina of the one part, and John W. Giddens of the County of Sampson and State aforesaid of the second part, Witnesseth that James J. Huggins for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred & fifty dollars to him in hand paid by the said John W. Giddens, at the time of executing these presents, the receipt whereof I hereby acknowledge, hath granted, bargained, sold, conveyed, aliened & confirmed and by these resents doth grant, bargain, sell, alien and confirm onto the said John W. Giddens his heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land in the County of Sampson and the State of North Carolina adjoining the lands of Isham F. Hicks, Henry D. Lewis & others bounded Viz. beginning at a pine at Isham F. Hicks corner and runs his line past his corner N 34 W 103 poles to a white oak in a pond Henry D. Lewis' corner, thence his line S44 W 158 poles to a pine in John D. Clifton's line, thence his line S 25 poles to a stake, thence his other line S 66 E 82 poles to a pine, thence S 80 E 120 poles to a stake at the Bear Branch, thence down the branch as it meanders 76 poles to a gum stump in the fork of said branch, thence W 112 poles to a pine, thence N 50 poles to a pine, thence N 62 E 124 poles to the beginning, containing one hundred & thirty-one acres more or less, the appurtenances thereunto belonging & otherwise appertaining, together with all the rights and titles, interests and claims of the said James J. Huggins, doth warrant and forever defend the above described tracts of land free and clear of all claims of any person or persons whatsoever deriving by and through the said James J.
