This part of Duplin became Sampson in 1784. By 1770 he had moved to Cumberland County where he died before January 26, 1785 when his will was proved in court. Second tract consisted of 200 acres joining the first tract beginning at Michael Kings corner and runs along his line. Wit: Danl. Clerk, Henry McCullock and Samuel Dunn. 27 Jul 1796 - Bill of Sale: Thomas Ivey (Sheriff) to Michael King. Trans: 63 pounds for Negro girl named Betsey belonging to the estate of John Fort dec'd which Negro girl was levied on by me as Sheriff and sold in consequence of three executions issued from the county court of Sampson to me directed for the satisfaction of the debts and costs recoverer by Robert Donnell, Samuel Dunn, James Clark and Isaac Millard against the estate of said John Fort. Betsey was sold at public auction. Wit: Owen Gregory and William Thompson. 22 Oct 1796 - Nehemiah Scott to Joseph Scott. Trans: 100 pounds for six tracts of land. The first tract consisted of 100 acres on the west side of great Cohary. Land was granted to Michael King by Arthur Dobbs Esquire 7 Jan 1755. Wit: Dicy Scott and Isaac Abbott. 8 Mar 1797 - James Spiller to Edward Byrd. Trans: 235 pounds for several tracts of land. One tract was in the fork of the six Runs and the Beaverdam. Wit: Michael King. 11 Jul 1797 - John Snell to James Marley (Morley). Trans: 57 pounds for several tracts of land adjacent to James Morley, Fryers old line crossing Six Runs; east side of Six runs; west wide of Six runs. Wit: Jas. Blackman and Michael King. 8 Nov 1797 - Power of Attorney: Bennett Blackman to James Blackman (his brother). Heading says Davidson County, TN. To sell my right and title to a Negro woman named Cloe now in the possession of Jennet King. Wit: Michael King and Richard Crumpler. 1798 (date not given but is in between two entries for 1798) - Orson Bell Sr. to Orson Bell Jr. Trans: 300 pounds for 400 acres on the east side of Ten Mile. Wit: Michael King and Robert Bell. May 1799 - James Blackman to Luke Thomas. Trans: 20 pounds for 102 acres on the ease side of the six Runs joining said Blackman and Thomas own lines beginning at James Blackmans corner formerly Ann Blackmans corner. Deed mentions Michael King and a place called the glade of Reeds. Wit: Thomas Sewell and James Oates. 11 Feb 1800 - Owen Gregory (Sheriff) to Nathan Jackson. Trans: 26.1.0 for 100 acres. Document states by virtue of four executions issuing from the court against George Jackson which sum was recovered by Blackman and Phillips, Michael King, Young Ryalls and Simon Hobbs. Land was on the west side of little Cohara and on the north side of Casers branch in the side of poplar branch. Wit: Hezeiah Williams and Simon Mewborn. 10 Aug 1801 - Bill of Sale: Edward Byrd to Thomas Byrd. Trans: 30 pounds for one certain Negro girl called by name Silviney. Wit: Michael King. 28 Sep 1801 - John Barfield to William Beck (of Duplin County). Trans: 25 pounds for 100 acres beginning at said Barfields and Oates corner. Deed mentions a pine near the Bear pond and Michael King. Wit: James Kennard and William Broadhurst. 2 Feb 1802 - Stephen King to William Vann. Trans: 250 pounds for 190 acres on the east side of the six Runs and upper side of Gavins branch. Wit: John Thomas and Michael King. 23 Feb 1802 - William (Billy) Darden to John Boyette and James Cobb. Trans: 700 pounds for 350 acres in the fork of the six Runs and Hoods Branch beginning at the run of Hoods Swamp at the mouth of Michael Kings branch thence with Kings line to the run of a swamp called the Glade of Reeds. Wit: James Marley and Stephen Slocumb. 19 Mar 1802 - William Turner and Sally Turner to Joseph Durden (Darden). Trans: 1480 dollars for 371 acres on the north side of Young swamp beginning at the run of Young swamp. Wit: Michael King and James Marley. 2 Dec 1802 - Jesse Darden (Sheriff) to Stephen King. Trans: 1.4.0 for 199 1/2 acres. Document states "whereas the said Jesse Darden took possession of the land for taxes for the year 1801 and put up the land for sale on 18 Sep 1802 at which time Stephen King was last and highest bidder. Deed mentions Ward's Swamp. Wit: John Thomas and Michael King. 5 Feb 1803 - Lewis Barfield (of Duplin County) to William King (son of Michael King). Trans: 1200 dollars for two tracts of land on the south side of Goshen Swamp and in the fork of Young swamp and the Calf marsh branch. The second tract consisted of 200 acres on the south side of Youngs swamp in the middle grounds between Jethro Oates, Michael Kings and Felix Kenans lines beginning at Michael Kings corner. Wit: Michael King and James Bennett. 24 Mar 1803 - Charles Snell to Roger Snell. Trans: 110 pounds for 50 acres on the east side of six Runs in the fork of the great branch. Deed mentions Michael King's old corner. Land was part of a tract granted to Michael King 15 Nov 1762 and then sold from Michael King to John King and from John King to William Roberts and from William Roberts to Roger Snell and afterwards the death of said Snell it fell to his son Charles Snell. Wit: Turner Carr and James Blackman. 19 Oct 1803 - Deed: James Snell and Elizabeth Snell (his wife) to Michael King. Trans: 100 pounds for a tract of land on the east side of the six Runs and on Hoods Branch beginning in Michael Kings line near Alexander McCullocks line. Land was per grant to William Millar 29 May 1762. Wit: Jas. Oates and William King.
