Sampson County, NC – Deeds – Chesnutt to Fortner, 1820 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ARTHUR CHESNUTT DEED TO JOHN FORTNER To all people to whom these presents Shall come Greeting Know ye that I Arthur Chesnutt of the County of Sampson & State of North Carolina for in the Consideration of the Sum of Five hundred Dollars to me in hand paid before the ensealing hereof well & truly paid by John Fortner of the County of Wayne & State aforesaid the receipts whereof I hereby acknowledge and myself therewith fully satisfied & paid & of every parcel thereof do acknowledged & discharge the said John Fortner his heirs and assigns forever conveyed & confirmed & by these presents do fully freely and absolutely, give grant & bargain Sell and confirm unto the said John Fortner his heirs & assigns forever. The parcel or tract of land Situate lying & being in the County & State aforesaid on the north Side of the Six Runs & the north Side of Roan Swamp beginning at Clintons & Holly’s corner a Stake from thence running along Clintons & Holly’s line No 25 W past Clintons corner 260 poles to a pine in the Sikes line from thence along Sikes line one poles to a pine in Jacobs line from thence along Jacobs line, So 30 __ 100 poles to a pine his corner from thence So 62 poles call along Jacobs other line 186 poles to a pine his & Holly’s corner from thence along agreed line of marked trees by an open pond. Jacob Chesnutts line of marked trees to the head of a small branch and down the branch as it meanders to the run of Stephens Marsh to a Stake from thence up the edge of said Stephens Branch to a maple in the run of a small branch from thence, N 65 E along a branch as it meanders 90 poles to the beginning to a Stake in the beginning, Containing 168 acres of land to the same forever or l___. It being the part of a tract of tract granted to John Cason, bearing date 10th of November & the said Arthur Chesnutt doth warrant & forever defend the aforesaid bargained land and premises against all lawful claim or claims of all persons whatsoever.
