Petition humbly sheweth that the petitioners brother Oliver Tuton late of Tarborough, now deceased, and to whom your petitioner is heir at law, purchased the following Military Land Warrants Viz No. 1638 granted to Francis Dugan for 274 acres No. 1472 granted to Thos. Robeson for 274 acres No. 1630 granted to Thos. Dugan for 274 acres No. 1795 granted to Philip Exum for 640 acres That the same he paid for and without fraud or deceit. He further states that the same will appear from the books kept by the said Oliver, the receipts of James C. Montflorence and Doctor Brehom of Warrenton. Your petitioner further states that the same was purchased in the year 1785. And as he is told and believes the same were sent to the office of Martin Armstrong and some of them were taken out of the office by William Tyrrell. The said Oliver died in the year 1786, that he never transferred the same, nor has, since his death, your petitioner done so, nor any other person properly authorized. The warrants being lost or mislaid and no fraud on your petitioners or brothers part, he prays duplicate warrants. In Senate December 13, and in House December 15, read and referred to Committee.
