Mr Ed. Britt, a prominent citizen of Sampson county, is in a critical condition
from a peculiar trouble. Some weeks ago in a difficulty which he head with Mr
Geo. E Strickland over the settlement of an account owed him by Strickland, his
left thumb was badly bitten by the latter, the bone being crushed. Later it
became necessary to amputate the thumb. His hand is in such a condition that its
amputation is now being considered.
