Sampson County, NC - Lee Rose Obituary ¤¤¤¤¤¤ Bullet Kill's Sampson Man Lee Rose, 50, Father of Nine, Found Dead In Corn Crib On Farm Dunn, Nov. 2 - Lee Rose, 50-year-old father of nine children, died this afternoon about 2 o'clock en route to Dunn Hospital as the result of a rifle wound in the head. City Policeman J.F. Hassell said Mrs. Rose told him her husband had apparentyly shot himself to death. The shooting took place at the Rose farm home located between Dunn and Clinton on Newton Grove, Route 2. Mrs. Rose told the officer tht her husband worked on the farm this morning as usual and that he came in just before lunch and told her that he was going to feed the stock. When she finished cooking, she related, she went to call him to dinner but he didn't answer. She said she searched the barns and then went into the corn crib where his body lay. A 22-calibre rifle was at his side. Three neighbors, Dallas King, Rexford Honeycutt and Martin B. Williford, brought him to the Dunn hospital but he was dead on arrrival. They said they believed he was dead when they arrived upon call of Mrs. Rose. The bullet went into the top of the head. Mrs. Rose said that her husband had been in poor health. Dr. J.S. Ayers, Sampson County coroner was notified and an investigation is underway.
