The Semi-Weekly Messenger (Wilmington NC) 19 April 1898
Clinton Democrat: Uriah Westbrook, of Sampson county, lost her life in a
horrible manner a few days ago. She was subject to epilepsy and during an attack
of this trouble fell into the fire at her home and was fearfully burned. Only
three small children were near at the time, her husband being away at work. She
made her way after the accident to Mr Obid Tart's, near by, where she died the
next day.
