In obedience of Sampson County Court to an order of Feb'r Term 1813 directing 
the Sheriff to summons a jury of good and lawful men to lay off to Mrs. Amy 
King widow of Stephen King dec'd her dower of land which the said King died 
seized and possessed of we the under signed being duly summoned met on the 
premises the 13 instant and being sworn Report in manner following (Viz)
To ascertain by the county surveyor the quantity of land the said dec'd dyed 
possessed of in the county aforesaid and found two thousand one hundred and 
forty eight acres exclusive of 706 acres in Cumberland County and proceeded to 
allot and lay off to her the said widow of the land in this county adjacent to 
the fork of Six Runs and Braconridges Branch, Sugs Branch.

The above plat represents 561 acres land laid off by the subscribed jury 
agreeable to an order of Feb'r Term and was satisfactorily acceptable by Mrs. 
Amy King as a competency of dower of all the lands of her husband Mr. Stephen 
King dec'd possessed of.
