All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Guy Potts http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00017.html#0004214 April 6, 2018, 6:07 pm Source: N C Archives Written: April 9, 1819 Will of Joab Blackman To beloved wife Susanna Blackman and her heirs forever all the horses, cattle, sheep, hogs, geese, corn, top and blade fodder, peas, potatoes, bacon, feather beds and their furniture, household and kitchen furniture, farming tools, money due her by notes or accounts, cash in hand arising from her separate estate and all the Negroes that belonged to her at the time I intermarried with her and their increase, every species and description of property to which I became entitled by our intermarriage together with twenty bushels of wheat and barrel of brandy, both to be raised from the first crop after my decease as my former home plantation To grand daughter Betsey Ann Cox six Negroes known by the names of Mourning, Charles, Nancy, Sam, Lavina and Silvy and their increase, one feather bed which said Negroes and bed are now in the possession of her husband Moses Cox, one hundred and fifty six and one quarter acres of land whereon she and her husband now resides To grandson Joseph John Cole the lands below the following boundaries and above and adjoining to Abraham and Elias Gainey's lines, corner of mine and Bennet Hills standing, old Beaver dam, Esther Blackman, Beaverdam Swamp, Lundy Lee, near six hundred acres together with eight Negroes known by the names of Yellow Belly, Patience, Peter, Crissy, Jinny, Jerry, Levin and Cabo, also one sword which formerly belonged to his father, six silver table spoons, fourteen tea spoons, one pair of silver sugar tongs, one silver tumell, the silver plate to be safely kept by my executors until he arrives of age of twenty one years, wearing apparel To grandson Blackman Cox a parcel of land which I purchased from Bennet Hill lying above and north of the above designated land bequeathed to Joseph John Cole, also all the dwelling houses together with a piece of land and both pieces supposed to contain near five hundred acres To grand daughter Ann Cox the land I purchased from William Fellow known by the name of Fellows Place containing two hundred and fifty six acres and a quarter To grand daughter Susanna Cox land which I purchased of Owen Thornton containing two hundred and thirty one acres To grand children Blackman Cox, Ann Cox and Susanna Cox to be equally divided among then when the said Blackman Cox Negroes known by the names of Abraham, Tilley, Amey, Dick, Short Belly, Boyte, Sim, Milly, Abner, Cherry, Amerit, Madison and Barny and their increase, Negroes hired out until said children arrive to the age of twenty one years, should either of grand children die before arriving of age, survivors to equally divide mentioned Negroes For love and affection I have for them I bequeath to Elizabeth Fail and Fleming Fail orphan children four hundred acres of land in Sampson and Johnston, whereon Jones Sills now resides and man named Radford, also two hundred and fifty (paper torn) of my estate and if they die before reaching to age the property divided between my grand children All property remaining after the above divisions to be sold and the money and interest together with cash in hand, monies due to be divided among grand children I appoint worthy friends Alexander Fleming and Alexander Burton executors Witnesses: King Lam?, L Eldridge No other information File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/nc/sampson/wills/blackman2633gwl.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/ncfiles/ File size: 3.9 Kb
