Written: 1814

In the name of God Amen I John Johnston Sr. of the county of Sampson and State 
of North Carolina being of sound and perfect mind and memory blessed be God do 
this thirty first day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight 
hundred and forteen make and publish this my last will and testament in manner 
following that is to say first I give and bequeath

Item I give to my beloved daughter Mary Hall five shillings 

Item I give to my beloved daughter Milliy Faircloth fifty acres of land during 
his life whereon Isham Faircloth now lives and after his death unto Mary the 
daughter of Isham Faircloth

Item I give to my beloved son John Johnston five shillings

Item I give to my beloved son Mark Johnston five shillings

Item I give to my beloved daughter Elizabith Faircloth five shillings

Item I give to my beloved daughter Hannah Faircloth two cowes and calves and 
one young horse two years old and two ewes

Item I give to Susanah Faircloth the daughter of James Faircloth fifty acres 
of land where the said James Faircloth now lives seven head of cattle also 
five head of sheep the cattle that James Faircloth has no in possession

Item I give to my beloved wife Elizabeth Johnston three hundred and forty 
seven acres of land including my manor plantation also all my take of horses 
and cattle and hogs and sheep also all my house hold furniture including all 
my working tools I also give to my beloved wife during of her widowhood and in 
case she doth marry to my son Matthew Johnston and if she dont to (illegible) 
until his death and then the afore said land and (illegible) to my son Matthew 
Johnston and I hereby make and ordain my beloved wife Elizabeth Johnston and 
my beloved son John Johnston executors of this my last will and testament in 
witness whereof I the said John Johnston to this my last will and testament 
set my hand and seal the day  and year above written signed seal'd published 
and declared by the said Johnston the testator in his last will and testament 
in the presence of us who were present at the time of signing and sealing 
thereof
