McLamb, 1909: Sampson County, North carolina State of North Carolina, Sampson Co. I, C.H. McLamb of aforesaid state and county, being in sound mind but viewing the uncertainty of my earthly existence make and declare this my last will and testament. Sec. 1st My executrix hereinafter named shall give my body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of my relatives and friends, and shall pay all my just debts out of the first moneys that may come into her hands. Sec. 2d I give and devise to my beloved wife, Lucinda McLamb, the tract of land on which I live including the orchard tract during her natural life or during her widowhood. Sec. 3d I give and bequeath to the said Lucinda McLamb all my personal property of every name and description, including mules, wagons, buggies, all stocks and interest in all Telephone lines and Companies of every name and description, cows, hogs, household & kitchen furniture etc Except one bed and bed fixtures which I give and bequeath to my son James T. McLamb. Sec. 4th I give and bequeath One Hundred Dollars ($100) of my life insurance to each my son James T. McLamb and my daughters Tempie Jane Bass, wife of J.L. Bass, the remainder I give and bequeath to my wife, Lucinda McLamb, to be used, together with all properties given her under Section 3 above, in raising and educating the children of the said Lucinda McLamb born unto her by me. Sec. 5th It is also my will and desire that the tract of land, over the branch, owned by me be taken in charge by my Executrix and rented to best advantage until my youngest child is 21 years old and after paying all expenses of building and refacing & etc. then 1/9 of proceeds if any be given annually to each my son James T. Bass and my daughter Tempie Jane Bass; the remaining 7/9 to go to Lucinda McLamb to be devoted as directed under Sec. 4th. This tract is known as the Harris & Mill Tract and includes the mill. Sec. 6th To my son Eugene Clifford McLamb I give and devise one lot in the town of Roseboro situated in Sampson County and state of North Carolina. It is also my will and desire that the said Eugene Clifford McLamb be given, if possible, a good business education. Sec. 7th This instrument is made with the expressed understanding that there shall be no division of my real estate until my youngest child is 21 years old. Sec. 8th I hereby constitute and appoint my beloved wife Lucinda McLamb Executrix to this my last will and testament to all intents and purposes whatsoever. Nor shall she be required to give any security for the performance of said duty. In witness whereof I C.H. McLamb have hereunto set my hand and seal this 23d day of October 1909 A.D. Chas. H. Lucinda McLamb, being duly sworn, doth say: That Charles H. McLamb. late of said County, is dead, having first made and published his last Will and Testament; and that Lucinda McLamb is the executor named therein. Further, that the property of the said Charles H. McLamb consisting of Real and personal property is worth about $2500.00, so far as can be ascertained at the date of this application, and that Lucinda McLamb, Tempie J. Bass, James T. McLamb, Julia L. McLamb, Flossie M. McLamb, Almeta McLamb, Katy C. McLamb, Eugene C. McLamb, Kathleen McLamb, Lou A. McLamb are the parties entitled under said will to the said property. I, Lucinda McLamb, do swear (or affirm) that I believe this writing to be the last Will and Testament of Charles H. McLamb, deceased; and that I will well and truly execute the same by first paying his debts and then his legacies, as far as the said estate shall extend, or that the law will charge me, and that I will well and faithfully execute the office of an executor agreeable to the trust and confidence reposed in me, and according to law: so help me God.
