This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Lesley Looper lesleylooper@earthlink.net ==================================================================== In the name of God Amen I Whitney Royal of the county of Sampson in the state of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory and understanding (Blessed be God) and considering the uncertainty of Death and the uncertainty of the time thereof and to the end that I may be the better prepared to leave this world whenever it shall pleas God to call me hence do therefore make publish and declare this my last will and testament in the following manner and form. Principally and first of all my soul I humbly recommend to the Almighty being who gave it and my Body to be decently buried by executor and friends in a christain like manner and as touching my worldly affairs which it has pleased the Almighty to bestow on me I give and bequeath in the following manner and form. 1 Item I give and bequeath to my bloved wife Sarah Royal all the money I may have on hand or due to me at my death for the purpose of my aping my just debts and funeral expences and to enable her to support hir self and family also all my crop of every description I may have on hand. 2 Item I lend to my beloved wife Sarah Royal during her lifetime all of my negroes and increase of the same that I have not given to my children all my horses hogs cattle and stock of all kinds all of my farming tools of all kinds all of my house hold and kitching furniture all my vehicles and harnis all carts and carts wheels ___ including all my personal and perishable property with the privilege and advice of my executor to sell any part of my perishable property should there be a necessity for such sale such as can be best spard or such as they have no use for and apply the proceeds to the payment of any debt or debts I may owe or to the use of hir self and family as the case may require and after my wifes death to be disposed of as I hereafter shall mention and devise. 3rd Item I give and bequeath to my five sons (viz) William R. Royal, Alvin Royal, Isham Royal, Elias F. Royal & Whitney Royal the following named negroes Bob Jane and Derias and to be eaquelly divided among them to shere and shere alike and to belong to them and there heirs forever after the death of my wife Sarah Royal. 4 Item It is my will wish and desire that after the death of my wife Sarah Royal that all my property consisting whatever it may be Real or personal and not heretofore given & bequeathd or other wise disposed of should be equally divided among all of my children to sheare and sheare alike (namley) Wm R. Royal, Alvin Royal, Isham Royal, Elias F. Royal, Whitney Royal, Mary Ann Underwood, Hepsey M. Holmes, and Elizabeth Maria Royal to belong to them and their heirs forever. 5th It is my will and desire that there should be any advancements made to any or either of my children by me or my wife during either of our like time except that all today given to them that they should account for the same in a general division or settlement of my estate should there be any at my wife death 6 and lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint my beloved sons Alvin Royal and Isham Royal my Executors to this my last will and testament In testimony where of I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal.
