Retired Navy Musician Dies in Stanly Fire

Albemarle -  A retired Navy musician died Friday in an early morning fire at 
his home.  Coy Dunlap Lowder, 53, who retired in 1953 after 22 years in the 
Navy, died of asphyxiation in the 2 a.m. fire.
Fire Chief Tom Chandler said the cause of the fire was not known.  
Lowder is survived by his wife; son, Peter Coy Lowder of Moffatt Field, Calif.; 
daughters, Mrs. Melvin Friis of Omaha, Neb., Miss Helen Lowder of Boone, 
mother, Mrs. Lilla Whitley Lowder; brothers, Roy Lowder, Clifford Lowder, 
both of Albemarle; sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Thompson, Mrs. M.M. Clark, Sr., both 
of Albemarle.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Lefler Funeral Home Chapel.
