Coy Dunlap Lowder, 53, who retired in 1953 after 22 years in the Navy, died of asphyxiation in the 2 a.m. fire. Fire Chief Tom Chandler said the cause of the fire was not known. Lowder is survived by his wife; son, Peter Coy Lowder of Moffatt Field, Calif.; daughters, Mrs. Melvin Friis of Omaha, Neb., Miss Helen Lowder of Boone, mother, Mrs. Lilla Whitley Lowder; brothers, Roy Lowder, Clifford Lowder, both of Albemarle; sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Thompson, Mrs. M.M. Clark, Sr., both of Albemarle. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Lefler Funeral Home Chapel.
