STANLY COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Temperance Jane (Smith) Huneycutt ----¤¤¤¤---- 4/25/1930 Home Instantly Deceased was Mother of Seven Boys and Three girl: Prominent Here Mrs. Temperance Jane (Smith) Huneycutt, 81 years of age died instantly at her home in Western Stanly County Tuesday morning as she partook of her meal. Funeral services were conducted from Philadelphia Church Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock with Rev. A.A. Walker of Charlotte officiating, assisted by Rev. C. G. Long of this city. Interment was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Huneycutt was the widow of the late Eli M. Huneycutt who died about four years ago, at the age of 87. She had lived in Western Stanly County all her life and had made many friends throughout this and adjoining counties. She was a loving mother, a good neighbor and a fine citizen and the community deeply mourns her death. Arch Huneycutt, a son said he was at the table conversing with his mother, she suddenly ceased talking. He raised his eyes to see that she was slumping, He at first thought that she had fallen asleep. but when she did not respond, he went to her and found her pulse gone and that she had died as peacefully as a child falling asleep. Ten children, seven sons, four of whom are ministers of the gospel, and three daughters grieve. The sons are Jap (Jasper Monroe Huneycutt) of Oakboro, Arch(Archibald Huneycutt) well known poet and writer of the homeplace, A.C (Andrew Columbus Huneycutt). Albemarle attorney, publisher and religious leader, Rev. T.B (Tyler Bennett Huneycutt), pastor of M(Unreadable) Methodist Church Gastonia, Rev, W.J.(William Jerome Huneycutt) Presbyterian pastor of Fayetteville, Rev, Q.N.(Quincy Newton Huneycutt) Pastor of (Unreadable) Presbyterian Church ,Union County, and Rev.T.F ( Theodore F. Huneycutt) pastor of Morrow Mountain Church this County, the daughters are Mrs. James L. Williams (Minnie). Mrs.Lee Huneycutt, (Jennie) , Mrs. Robert C. Dry,(Ila) all of Western Stanly. Six sons acted as pall bearers and granddaughters as flowers girls. There was an amazingly big crowd at the funeral and the floral offerings, which many brought, confirmed this grand woman was held in high admiration. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
