Pleasant Youth Killed Mt. Pleasant - James Edward Shoe Jr., 19, of Route 1, Mt. Pleasant was killed almost instantly Monday night when his car left the Mt. Pleasant-Albemarle highway and slammed into a tree. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Stanly County Hospital, Albemarle, at 6:45 o’clock. The crash occurred six miles east of Mt. Pleasant in Stanly County. Young Shoe was alone in the car, which was traveling toward Albemarle. Funeral services for the youth will be conducted Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Mt. Gilead Lutheran Church, of which he was a member. The Rev. John D. Lindler, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body, which will be taken from Peninger’s to the home today at 3 p.m. will lie in state at the church half an hour prior to the rites. Young Shoe was employed at Kerr Bleachery in Concord, was a native of the Mt. Pleasant area, son of James Edward Shoe and Mrs. Ruah Smith Shoe. Surviving, in addition to his parents, is a sister, Mrs. Paul Cauble of Mt. Pleasant.
